Israel Reveals New Secrets and Details About the Pager Operation

Al-Taj News – On the second anniversary of the pager bombing operation, Israel revealed new documents and unprecedented details about one of the Mossad’s most complex operations against Hezbollah, which paved the way for the assassination of its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

On September 17, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., a single order was issued from somewhere in Israel, and with the press of a button, a fabricated message bearing the signature of Hezbollah’s leadership was sent. Within seconds, thousands of devices began emitting alert sounds across Lebanon and Syria. As Hezbollah members picked up their devices and looked at the screens, small explosive charges that had been previously planted inside each device detonated, with the explosions continuing one after another for about half an hour.

The attack left around 5,000 people wounded, including hundreds in serious condition, and more than 20 dead, among them Hezbollah field commanders and members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to Lebanese reports, Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani was injured in the face and lost sight in one eye, which commentators considered additional evidence of the depth of the connection between Tehran and the decisions of the Shiite organization.

Within minutes, videos from surveillance cameras in shops, cafés, and major intersections spread, showing armed men collapsing to the ground. As the news spread, field operatives were ordered to throw their devices into the trash or leave them in open areas for fear of a new wave of explosions, in a scene Israeli sources described as being accompanied by screams heard over the group’s internal communication networks.

By October 7, 2023, the Mossad had produced 500 devices and delivered them to Hezbollah through an extremely complex process without leaving any trace. Following the “Black Saturday,” then-Mossad chief David Barnea ordered an acceleration of production, realizing that “Judgment Day” was approaching and that the group’s entry into the war was only a matter of time. As tensions escalated, the Mossad’s pressure to accelerate production coincided with Hezbollah’s growing demand for more devices.
